The two most prominent cases were in Libya (a resolution for a no-fly zone somehow ended up with NATO troops on the ground), and Iraq (a resolution condemning treatment of nuke inspectors gave the US some legitimacy for its incursion. Obviously many other factors are at play but this 'when given an inch take a mile' problem is an interesting and troubling one.Matt Royhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06532354277848905275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1086764876629036045.post-16252635823268917012012-02-03T15:36:44.985-05:002012-02-03T15:36:44.985-05:00True, to an extent. The permanent members are the only ones who can abuse their power and they run the show so the others are really there just to make them feel good about being at the big kid's table.Skyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10723733406348223879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1086764876629036045.post-78556533468571285752012-02-03T13:17:31.402-05:002012-02-03T13:17:31.402-05:00You may want to double check the difference betwee...You may want to double check the difference between the security council and the permanent members of the security council.pounderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00262914474484109738noreply@blogger.com
